Most musicians are broke – Shatta Wale

BY ABIGAIL ASARE

DANCEHALL ARTISTE Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, popularly known in showbiz as Shatta Wale, has taken another swipe at his fellow musicians, saying “I’m the only musician who is making good money” in the country and abroad.
According to the ‘Taking Over’ hit maker, most Ghanaian musicians are living a fake lifestyle, adding that, “We thought some of the musicians came and were making money, but they were not.”
“I have money, and that is a fact aside having large followers. Anytime I go on radio and say I’m really trying with my business people get offended. What I really want to tell them is that we are living a life where upcoming youth are watching.
“Most musicians do not have the mind to elevate themselves. What is talking is the pocket, properties and investments,” the business-minded musician said.
The popular artiste, who was speaking to Gideon Otchere Anim, also known as Gattuso, on Kasapa 102.5 FM ahead of this year’s S Concert slated for Friday, December 1, asked his fellow musicians not to get offended if he speaks about his achievements.
Apart from Shatta, other artistes billed for the night are Stonebwoy, Samini and actor cum-comic musician Kwadwo Nkansah (aka Lilwin). Other artistes expected to rock the stage are Kuami Eugene, Kidi, Fancy Gadam, Adina, Ebony and gospel musician Gifty Osei.
The event, dubbed ‘Neon Edition’ S Concert, is powered by Starr 103.5FM and it will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
It is sponsored by Kasapreko and Storm Energy Drink and powered by Excellence In Broadcasting (EIB) Network through its various outlets Starr 103.5FM, Kasapa 102.5 FM, Live 91.9 FM, GHone TV, Agoo TV and Empire FM.
