AIRTEL HAS presented a cheque of GHȼ 4,600.00 to Breast Care International (BCI) to support the Non-Governmental Organisation’s awareness creation programme on breast cancer.
At a brief presentation ceremony at the Peace and Love Hospital, on the Spintex road in Accra, Airtel’s Call Centre Manager, Benjamin Kayode, said the gesture formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, which hinges on good dietary habits and the welfare of women among others.
In a release copied to the DAILY HERITAGE, Mr. Kayode said workers of the company identify with the campaign against breast cancer and commended BCI for the intense countrywide awareness creation programmes against the disease.
Commenting on the humanitarian gesture, President of BCI and Chief Executive Officer of Peace and Love Hospitals, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, said Airtel’s assistance was commendable, especially when the act was at the instance of the workers themselves, adding that it demonstrated the readiness and willingness of corporate Ghana to safeguard the health of women.
Dr. Wiafe commended corporate institutions supporting the campaign and insisted that “the breast cancer disease is no respecter of persons, hence the need to collectively create awareness in a bid to reduce its incidence.”
