RADIO AND television personality, Okyeame Quophi, yesterday revealed on Pluzz FM that he is working with the youth to correct the negative impact of the lyrics in some of his songs during his time as a hiplife artiste.
The former member of the defunct hiplife duo ‘Akyeame’ said he believes that some of his lyrics years back might lead some people astray and it is his responsibility to prevent that.
“I didn’t mean my words and so nobody should pay attention to them,” he said.
“I would like to use this opportunity to tell new artistes who are about to come out with new songs to be mindful of the choice of words they use because they will count years to come,” he appealed.
During the interview on AM Pluzz show on Pluzz FM, Okyeame Quophi, who was ordained as a pastor about a year ago, declared the ‘Obi yere ye obi mpena’ and ‘Shake the thing off” as ‘stupid songs.’
According to him, the lyrics of these songs are really knocking on his door and are hunting him, so he regrets every lyric in those songs. It amounts to sending people straight to hell and is an option that “I cannot take.”
“Most of my messages are directed at the youth because they are the group that grew up listening to my music,” he added.
He said he would be visiting university campuses to correct that damage he might have caused.
