LAWYERS OF the Nungua Chief of Staff, Mr. Frank Kofi Lewi, has written to the Lands Commission to “kindly take steps to stop processing of all documents relating to any dispositions or any instrument in respect of any Nungua Stool land brought before the outfit.”
In a joint letter to the Commission from Pwamang and Associates, Zoe-Atta Akyea and Co and Abada and Co., the lawyers indicated that their attention had been drawn to the prevalence of a lot of forged documents relating to lands under the Nungua Stool, which in spite of their potentially dubious nature may be processed by the Lands Commission.
It said, “Our client is alarmed because this is assuming very fearful proportions, especially as the accredited signatories do not have any idea of these forgeries.”
The lawyers indicated that they hope the Commission will assist their client in that regard to weed out alleged miscreants who have been creating a lot of problems and the litigations they generate sometimes.
“We shall humbly urge you to forthwith withhold any document presented in respect of any disposition relating to any land under Nungua and put same to the police to check authenticity before proceeding to process same,” it said.
The letter from the law firms was copied to the Executive Secretary and Regional Chairman of Lands Commission, the Regional Surveyor, the Administrator – Stool Lands Secretariat, the Director – Lands Division, the Registrar, Nungua Traditional Council and the Inspector General of Police.
The rest of the recipients are the Director CID, Property Fraud Unit –CID, National Security Coordinator and King Odaifio Welensti III – Nungua Mantse.
