Trader murdered at Akanteng market

A 40-YEAR-OLD trader, identified as Kumesu Atter, has been murdered by unknown assailants at Akanteng Market in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region.

The man was murdered on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at dawn.

An uncle of the deceased, Tetteh Daniel Nartey, a resident of  Odumase Krobo, told the DAILY HERITAGE he received a distress phone call that his nephew who went to the market for business as usual but decided to sleep over had been murdered in cold blood.

He said the case was reported to the Assesewa Police where a five-member Police team was dispatched to the scene to convey the body.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Command, Sergeant Gomado, explained that the police team, led by the head of the district Criminal Investigations Department, Alfred Abrokwa, reported from the scene of crime that Atter was dead and lying in prone position wearing a pair of black trousers with multiple knife wounds on the right hand, stomach and chest and in a pool of blood at a section of the Akanteng Market Square.

He said the scene was examined and inventories taken to facilitate investigations. Sergeant Gomado added that the body was subsequently conveyed  to the Asesewa Government Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy while frantic efforts were being made to apprehend the culprits.

Meanwhile, the bereaved family members, shocked by the gruesome murder of their relation, trooped to the house of the deceased to mourn him.
