THE PRESIDENT of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, yesterday handed himself to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service after he arrived from Morocco to assist investigations into an alleged fraudulent case reported against him by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Officers of the Airport offices of the CID whisked Mr Nyantakyi away from their station to the Police Headquarters over alleged acts of bribery and influence peddling using President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s name fraudulently.
In a yet-to-be released Anas Aremeyaw Anas video on Ghana football, Mr Nyantakyi is captured allegedly demanding whopping sums of money from potential investors to facilitate their meeting with the President, his vice and other senior government officials.
The video will be released on June 6, 2018 yet President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday directed the CID to take up the matter on prima facie basis as the alleged actions are criminal.
The police have assured the public that due processes would be followed in the investigation and that “any person with relevant information may submit it to the Police CID Headquarters.”
