BARCELONA STAR Luis Suarez has reportedly been told he can leave the club much to the anger of Lionel Messi.
Barcelona star Suarez was nearly replaced earlier this summer, with the club pursuing a deal for Antoine Griezmann.
However, that transfer collapsed and Suarez, who is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the World Cup, looked set to remain first choice.
Yet a huge report from Spanish publication El Gol Digital claim the former Liverpool star has been told he can leave the club and Messi is far from happy about it.
Barcelona chiefs reportedly think Suarez has achieved all there is to achieve in Catalonia.
And with the 31-year-old approaching the twilight years of his career, they are keen to recoup as much money as possible.
Club president Josep Maria Bartomeu supposedly is hoping Suarez blossoms at the World Cup so his price tag rises.
EL Gol Digital says Messi is crushed by the decision, though, given his close relationship with Suarez.
He is even reportedly trying to tell the Barcelona directors to keep his friend for one more season.
But what happens remains to be seen.
Many feel he will end up staying at the Nou Camp yet if Barcelona receive a suitable offer, it appears they will be happy to accept that.
News of a possible Suarez exit surfaced in April, when football insider, the Secret Footballer, tipped him to be shown the door.
“A former teammate and I have been talking for a while about Luis Suarez,” he tweeted.
“Has certainly lost something and we both feel he won’t be at Barcelona much longer.
“Question is who replaces him and where does he go? Back to Liverpool?”
