A BUDDING musical sensation from Sekondi / Takoradi, Drupz, released his 7th studio single Wednesday, last week, and it has already started raking in the numbers.
A startling 1038 streams on music stream service Soundcloud in two days may not be a historical feat, but for young up and coming artistes like Drupz, it means a lot.
“I’ve never gotten such streams in such a short period, it’s overwhelming.
“It shows how bright the future is for the song because the people I made it for are showing great support. And that alone gives me satisfaction,” he told DAILY HERITAGE in an interview on Saturday.
Speaking on what went into the production process, Drupz, affectionately referred to as ‘SekundeAbrantie’, mentioned that he got the ‘riddim’ from a female DJ, DJ MJ, and after listening to it, he felt the need to write a song which would inspire his fans to strive for success.
“The title, ‘Rockstar, came to mind after I was done writing my first verse; after the struggle/hustle pays off into success it is only right that one lives a “Rockstar”.
“So basically the theme is on hustling and working hard to live your dreams,” he added.
He said he has an Extended Play(E.P), which will be released soon. “It’s titled, ‘ANAKONI’. The name is an (sic) Hawaiian name for ‘Henry’, which means ‘the admirable one’
Born Henry Benard Moses, Drupz, already has six singles under his belt –‘Dagger’, ‘Déjàvu’, ‘Body’, ‘Yolo’, ‘Yearn For You’ and ‘Haffiknow’ (which was produced by Sammie Blacc), as well as two other songs that got featured on Gafacci’s ‘AHUNDA’ E.P, which was released in 2017.
He concluded that “I am very grateful to everyone who has supported my craft since day one. I promise nothing but the best of real music this year and I’m just getting started so the world should buckle up and stay ready for Drupz music.”
