MACHETE-WIELDING land guards have struck again at Ashalaja, in the Amasaman Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, attacking one Nii Boi Quartey.
Nii Quartey, who is currently battling for his life at the Amasaman Government Hospital, was inflicted with machete wounds on his neck, head and other parts of the body.
Narrating the incident to the DAILY HERITAGE in Accra yesterday, the brother of the victim, Mr Odartey Lamptey, said the incident occurred on Saturday, February 9, 2018, at Ashalaja.
Mr Lamptey said the victim got information that some people had invaded his land and had started developing it.
He stated that since the said land in question is being litigated on and the matter is currently pending in court, the victim decided to rush to see things for himself.
Mr Lamptey added that upon reaching there, the victim saw four notorious land guards, namely George, popularly known in the area as Kooche; Khalifa Bonda Obeney, alias Mushea, and Asaa Brother, on the land.
When Quartey tried to inquire from them their mission on the land without any provocation, the land guards started inflicting machete wounds on him and he had to be saved by a passer-by, who raised the alarm and the land guards bolted.
According to the brother of the victim, the land guards, who are currently on the run, mentioned the name of one Solomon Obeney Tawiah as the person who sent them.
He said the case had been reported to the police at Amasaman but they were yet to effect any arrest.
Mr Lamptey has, therefore, called on the Inspector General of Police to intervene as the mayhem being unleashed by land guards on innocent Ghanaians in the Ashalaja area is getting out of control.
When contacted on phone, the Divisional Police Commander for Amasaman, ASP Francis Yeriba, confirmed the incident to the paper but said none of the landguards had been arrested.
