NDC shooting: Police declare 4 ‘Hawks’ wanted

THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command has declared four persons alleged to be members of pro-National Democratic Congress(NDC) vigilante group ‘The Hawks’ wanted over the shooting incident at the regional office of the NDC on Monday, February18, 2019.

One person died while another person is in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. In a statement, the police revealed that the suspects are Warrior, Damous, Migyima and Abu Taliban.

The crime scene has been cordoned off to enable the police to conduct investigations.

The shooting incident happened during a meeting which was being chaired by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, at the party’s Ashanti Regional Office in Kumasi on Monday.

According to Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako Justice, the general secretary had to run for cover during the melee to avoid being caught in the gun battle between two rival factions in the party.

The meeting was to address some misunderstanding between the regional chairman of the party, Nana Kwasi, and a key member, Joseph Yamin.

Both men came along with their vigilante groups and confusion erupted when the vigilantes started shoving one another.
