LEKMED marks 6th KG March past at KROMA


THE LEDZOKUKU-KROWOR Municipal Education Directorate (LEKMED) has held its sixth kindergarten march past as a prelude to commemorate the 62nd Independence Day Celebration, on the theme Celebrating Peace and Unity.”


The sixth event which was the first of its kind at Nungua under the newly-created Krowor Municipal Assembly (KROMA) attracted 18 kindergarten schools in the municipality.



Mrs Gloria Naa-Ahinee Clerk, the Municipal Director at the Ghana Education Service (GES) while addressing the gathering urged parents to enroll their kids in school.

According to her, with the right foundation, children would grow to become great achievers adding that the purpose of the KG march past is also to instil some nationalism into the children and also attract children who are home to be in school.


She however commended the teachers at the pre-school level within the municipality for their commitment and hard work urge parents to support the course.

In a statement delivered on his behalf, the Municipal Chief Executive of KROMA Mr Joshua Bortey said the assembly with do whatever possible in pushing education to the level of acceptance.


On her part, the Early Childhood Coordinator at LEKMED Ms Abena Owusuaa Amo Yeboah expressed satisfaction at the level of attendance but also said the heavy downpour took the shine away from the march past.

The march past which was later called off commenced with traditional, Islam, and Christian prayers led by pupils from LEKMA 1&2 Primary KG, St. Augustine’s Basic KG, and the United Church Prep. KG.


The dignitaries gathered at the event were treated to a variety of cultural performances which includes poetry and dance by pupils from Precious Savior Academy and Wingston International School KG.



Participating schools

Participating schools were St. Peters Anglican Pre-School, Nungua LEKMA ‘7’ KG, Nungua Ebenezer Methodist KG, Quaye Nungua Roman Catholic KG, Wingston International School. KG, and Nungua Central KG.

The rest are, LEKMA 1&2 Primary KG, United Church Prep KG, St. Augustine’s Basic KG, Precious Savior Academy, Nungua Methodist ‘1’ Basic, and Nungua LEKMA ‘1,2 and 7’ KG.
