THE WOMEN Fellowship of the Evangelical Baptist Mission of Ghana (Shalom Baptist) Church at Teshie has surprised members of the church with a donation of various kinds of clothing for both men and women on Mother’s Day.

The articles of clothing, including Kaba-and-sleet, jackets, shirts, trousers shoes, and socks, according to the donors, were meant to send a message to the church members that mothers’ role in providing for the home is very significance.

Speaking to the DAILY HERITAGE, Mrs Kate Akanbek, the president of the Women Fellowship, thanked God for the lives of mothers and urged all women to play their motherly roles as required of them.

“We know that it is mothers who provide to support the family for benefit of the children and even if it is the men who provide the money, today we want to tell all members of the church and the community that women clothe children.

“We are just telling them that women provide for the family as well. We want to tell all women that the children God has blessed us with children, even if they are children we didn’t produce ourselves, we have got nieces, nephews and so many others in our communities who need mother figure so we are saying that they should take up that responsibility and look after the children very well. We should be good role models for them,” she said.

The head pastor of the church, Rev Thomas Asiedu, called on men to appreciate their wives. According to him, the role of women in the community and the church is symbolic and called for special recognition for women in all spheres of life.

The pastor said mothers’ role in managing the home was special and that the Mother’s Day message was about the role mothers play to make our communities happy places.
