THE DISTRICT Chief Executive (DCE) of Nadowli-Kaleo in the Upper West Region, Mrs Katherine Tieyiri Lankono, has said thr weekly narket in the area is banned for the next two weeks.
The DCE said even though daily market would be allowed for residents around, weekly the market day that attracts people from other districts is not allowed for a forthnight.
This, she said, is to ensure that persons who have migrated from coronavirus-infected places, including Accra and Kumasi, and could be carry the virus do not spread it in her area.
She said the “district is not enforcing self-quarantine but rather encouraging” visitors who thronged the township to observe the mandatory 14 days self-quarantine order.
She was speaking to journalists when the national disinfection spraying exercise started from Wa touched base in her district.
Nadowli-Kaleo is part of the places where 110 markets and lorry stations across the Upper west Region have currently been disinfected under the national spraying exercise introduced by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, as a measure to contain the spread of bacteria and viruses in the wake of Covid 19.
