Prampram beach to go hi-tech – To attract tourists, Nene Bantama IV assures

THE PRAMPRAM Beach in the Ningo-Prampram Municipality of the Greater Accra Region is set to be branded into an international standard beach to attract tourists, the Asafoiatse of Agbazo Wem at Prampram, Nene Bantama IV has assured.

The beach according to him would be upgraded to have modern rest places, summer huts and state of the art landing beach to befit its much acclaimed fame.

Nene Bantama made this known when he led the press to tour the site following his installation as the Asafoatse in the area.

He said beaches are one stop recreational sites for people from far and near and that while serving as a source of employment for thousands of people; it also serves as an ecological purpose.

According to him, only few communities across the globe are blessed with beaches as a good percentage of the landmass is landlocked.

The Prampram Beach touted to be one of the most beautiful sea shores in the sub-region, has not been matched up to its hype. The place used to serve visitors and tourists with the beauty of serenity until insanitary conditions at the beach robbed the place of its fame.

In order to restore its lost glory, the Asafoatse of the Royal Agbazo Wem clan toured the site to have firsthand information of the beach.

Currently, refuse has taken over the beach and sections of the rocky bay have been turned into places of convenience where defecation is practised with impunity.

Some residents who spoke with the media said the move by the Asafoiatse is timely as it will save them from an imminent disease outbreak.

The Chief Fisherman of Prampram told the press that though he has been trying his best to save the beach; his efforts had always hit the rocks just because he had been fighting the battle alone.

The Asafoatse of Agbazo Wem of Prampram Nene Bantama who was sad at the site cautioned the people to keep the beach clean. He indicated that a taskforce would be formed to ensure sanity at the beach.
